ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) emphasized on the federal government to do away with crippling energy crisis and other factors that have been impeding the growth potential of the cement industry.
The association also complained that it had been facing tax evasion accusations although it was the only industry which offered the Federal Board of Revenue and Ministry of Industries to put in place a supervisory clearance system of cement dispatches.
According to the association, the cement sector recorded a growth of 9.39 percent in sales against the corresponding period of last year despite various hurdles and issues, adding that this figures reflected the growth potential of the cement sector.
The APCMA said that under the challenging environment, cement sector continued to perform well as during the first five months of current fiscal year, a growth of 9.39 percent in domestic sales was recorded compared with same period of last fiscal year. Similarly exports during July to November 2014 recorded a decline of 2 percent as compared with same period last year.
