The ATIR officials stated that the extension in the deputation of Riaz was made after tribunal’s chairman Nazir Ahmed moved a requisite to the ministry owing to scarcity of staffers at the tribunal.

Through the notification, the ministry stated: “The competent authority i.e. the Prime Minister has been pleased to extend the deputation period of Muhammad Riaz, Accountant Member (BS-21), Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR), Islamabad till his superannuation on 14-04-2017 or until further orders, whichever is earlier”.

The notification was delivered to the several offices of state including the Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and others.

It is pertinent to mention that almost every regional office of ATIR was facing scarcity of top officials. The officials had time and again complained about the scarcity.
