Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled items valued Rs5.1m in third week of Jan

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered goods worth Rs5.1million during third week of January 2017.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts. The ASO team consisted of Saeed Akhtar Joiya (Superintendent), Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, Khalid Mehmood Dogar (Inspectors), Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (Sepoys).

The team seized two vehicles under Section (U/S 157) worth Rs.2million being used for smuggling transportation. Other goods, including tyres and tubes worth Rs325000, spare parts worth Rs75000 and other miscellaneous items weighed 38297 kg valued Rs 4193860, were also recovered. All these items were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Faisalabad ASO confiscated the items under the Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 (i) 90 of the Customs Act-1969.
