Torkham Customs confiscates 14.318kg gold-bars

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar’s Torkham Customs Station seized 14.318 kilogram of gold-bars from a vehicle coming from Afghanistan. The smuggler, carrying gold, was arrested at Torkham border. The gold has been deposited into the State Bank of Pakistan Peshawar.

According to details told by Collector MCC Qurban Ali Khan that on 26th of January FY2016-17, the customs staff intercepted a vehicle with registration No: 76334-KBL at Torkham border. During the search, gold-bars weighed 14.318 kilogram were recovered from the concealed cavities of the vehicle under the seat of driver.

Qurban Ali Khan said accused (Driver) namely Wanab Gul, a resident of Afghanistan, was held by the political agent under Section 2(s), 16 and 168 of the Customs Act-1969 read with Section 3(1) of Imports and Exports (Control) Act-1950.

He added that the collectorate has made special arrangements at Peshawar airport to confiscate the smuggled currency and gold.
