KARACHI: The Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) in its full swing and conducting raids against the administration of private hospitals, which are not being paid taxes for such a long time, despite several intimations.
In this regard, a team of RTO-I under the supervision of deputy commissioner was raided at a private hospital Mamji, located in Federal B Area of Karachi and sealed all records of the hospital.
The Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Abro while talking to Customs Today said that the RTO-I office has already served several notices to the management of the Mamji Hospital, but the hospital management could not respond against the legal notices.
The deputy commissioner further informed this scribe that the FBR officers were seized all tax records of the hospital but no legal action taken yet.
Replying to a query, the Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Abro further said that the hospital management was defaulter of Rs7million of taxes in share of services and other heads. However, the hospital management was assured the FBR to deposit the entire amount of outstanding taxes within few days.
Although, the hospital sources were informed this scribe that the management has deposited all outstanding amount of taxes at the time of raid.
It may be mentioned here that the RTOs under the directives of FBR has started a massive crackdown against the tax defaulters including hospital and restaurant managements.
