Customs Intelligence seizes non-duty paid items worth Rs4.76m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team confiscated miscellaneous goods worth Rs 4.76 million involving duty and taxes of Rs 1.2 million and impounded a container worth Rs3,00,000.

Reportedly, the customs intelligence team was on routine checking near Kot Shabzal Check Post, Sadiqabad. The team intercepted a trailer bearing registration No: LXP-1179. The team checked the vehicle and recovered miscellaneous items including used LED ceiling, melamine plates, 6 diesel cylinder, industrial chilling units, kilogram, motor pump, electric hoist, wheel changer, wood electric surface plainer, revolving office chair, rubber pips, ball bearing, petrol generators 24.4 KVA, rubber hose pipe, electric bakery cover and other items. These items were being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad.

The customs intelligence staff asked the driver to show the legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the goods. The driver, who was identified as Ali Nawaz son of Muhammad Ramzan a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, remained fail to provide any required document.

After his failure, the customs team confiscated the smuggled items and registered a case of smuggling against the accused. The Customs Intelligence team forwarded the case to the customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
