Deputy Collector Asma issues notice to vehicle smuggling suspect

FAISALABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Asma Hameed issued a show cause notice to the owner of a non-duty paid Hiace van.

Reportedly, the customs intelligence team intercepted a Hiace van bearing registration No: LEI-16-2695 near Sargodha Road for checking and asked the driver, who was identified as Mansoor Arif Khan, to show the documents regarding legal import and possession of the vehicle but he remained failed to produce any required documents.

The customs officials impounded the non-duty paid vehicle and sent the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action against the suspect.

The adjudication directed the accused to file reply on the next hearing of date. The seizing authority was also directed to file reply in this regard. The adjudication also directed deputy collector Muhammad Rizwan to attend the hearing along with relevant record.

The customs adjudication issued notice to accused person on the violation of Section 10-A, 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 and directed the accused to file his reply by given time.

It is necessary to mention that the adjudication has boost up the hearing to conclude the hearing of the pending cases on priority basis.
