Hyderabad ASO seizes laptops, fabric from Khushal Khan Khattak express

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated foreign origin fabric and smuggled laptops from Kotri railway station during an operation in the last week of January 2017.

According to details, Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received credible information about transportation of smuggled items. He immediately constituted a special team comprising Superintendent Sikander Akbar Panhwar, Inspector Asadudin Mirza, Inspector Muhammad Iqbal, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Sepoys and deivers to foil the smuggling attempt.

The special ASO team, under the supervision of Collector Omer Shafique, raided at Kotri railway station and searched Khushal Khan Khattak express. While searching the train, the ASO team recovered 8 laptops HP and Lenovo brand China origin and 870 meter silk fabric from the train.

However, no one appeared to claim the ownership of the items, so the ASO team confiscated the items and shifted it to the customs warehouse Hyderabad.

Sources said that the seized items are worth Rs9,99,40 involving duty and taxes Rs2,74,216.
