Customs collects Rs 639.056 billion during first seven months of financial year 2016-17

KARACHI: The overall revenue collection by Pakistan Customs during the first seven months (July-January 2016-17) stood at Rs 639.056 billion, up 5.4 percent as against Rs 606.16 billion collected during the same period of last financial year.

According to the details, the revenue collection by Pakistan Customs South Region surged by 6.9 percent to Rs 551.22 billion in July-January 2016-17 as compared with the collection of Rs 515.12 billion the same period last year. Customs duty collection stood at Rs 187.18 billion during July-January 2016-17 as compared to Rs 169.245 billion collected during the same period last year. Customs duty collection by Pakistan Customs South region stood at Rs 161.335 billion in July-January 2016-17 as compared to Rs 145.23 billion last year.

Overall sales tax collection at import stage stood Rs 345.326 billion during the period under review as against Rs 331.174 billion during the same months last year. Customs Appraisement South’s collection of sales tax at import stage stood at Rs 296.876 billion as against Rs 278.737 billion collected last year in the similar period.

Income tax collected by Pakistan Customs during (July-January 2016-17) stood at Rs 102.698 billion as compared to Rs 99.83 billion last year. Customs Appraisement South collected income tax of Rs 90.63 billion in the period as against Rs 87 billion collected in the same period last year. Highest revenue collection in terms of customs duty came from Customs Collectorate Port Qasim, which collected Rs51.83 billion followed by Customs Appraisement West by collecting Rs 49.66 billion and MCC Appraisement East collecting Rs 41.902 billion in July-January 2016-17.
