Bajwa was transferred to the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) in November 2015 when he was giving his services to the Federal Board of Revenue (FRB) as chairman.

Tariq Bajwa is known as a key member of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s economic team. During the period as FBR chairman, Bajwa worked hard and as a result the number of taxpayers increased from 700,000 to nearly a million. He also contributed to taxpayers facilitation and helped promote tax culture in the country.

He replaces former Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood who retired on January 20, 2017.

Meanwhile, the government is also considering appointing Member (Operational) Dr Irshad as FBR chairman till his retirement on April 22.
