LAHORE: The High Court has stopped the Punjab government from taking action against a private app-based taxi service provider.
Justice Shahid Waheed passed the orders on a petition filed by A-1 cars challenging Punjab government’s ban on his services.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that the government had declared private app-based taxi service providers illegal despite the fact that no legislation was carried out in that regard. He contended that no action could be taken against the taxi service provider in the absence of legislation.
He pleaded with the court to restrain the provincial government from taking any action against the company. At this, the court stopped the government from taking any action against the company and sought reply within two weeks.
