Khushab FIU seizes non duty paid items worth Rs 5.75m during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Custom Intelligence and Investigations Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab confiscated miscellaneous items which includes knitted, mesh fabrics, composed polyester worth Rs5.75 million involving customs duty and taxes Rs29,80,042 and also confiscated container worth Rs3,300,000.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Riaz Hussain received information about some smuggling attempts.

He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Senior Intelligence Officers Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Munir Ahmed, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Saleem and Sepoys Liaqat Ali, Shouqat Hayat, Naveed Akhtar, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Rafique, Israr Ahmed, and Fakhar Abbas.

The FIU team intercepted a container bearing registration no: TMA-285 which was coming from Peshawar to Multan near Sindh Punjab check post.

The FIU team asked accused persons who was identified as Jahan Khan to produce legal documents regarding possession of above said items but he failed to provide the any relevant legal documents.

The FIU team converted the entire goods into proper Seizure under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings against the owner of the goods.
