The four-day extension of DIFT fetched them more orders than obtained in the previous year, the exhibitors said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 22nd edition of DITF on January 1, which was scheduled to end on January 31, but the EPB extended the trade show by four days to February 4, considering the demand from the exhibitor.

During the 35 days expo, exhibitors sold products of Tk113.53 crore while they bagged export orders of Tk243.44 crore, said Sultana. In the last DIFT, exhibitors got orders of Tk235 crore.

The government is also working to relocate the DIFT from the city to a new zone at Purbachal through establishing a permanent venue, Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Abdul Matlub Ahmad and senior Commerce Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamoon were present at the function.

21 countries including Bangladesh have taken part this year in the fair that had 580 stalls and pavilions in different categories.
