DHAKA: Bangladesh is importing 200,000 tons of wheat from Russia at $245 per ton in a government-to-government deal, the head of the state grains buyer said, as South Asia’s top wheat buyer looks to build its reserves.
According to details, the first batch of 55,000 tons of wheat will be arriving on 18 February head of the directorate general of Food, Bangladesh’s procurement agency Badrul Hasan said.
Last year, Bangladesh rejected three cargoes of Russian wheat, totaling 150,000 tons, over quality concerns.
