ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal on Wednesday reserved a judgment on a case filed by the National Institute of Health Islamabad.
The appellant had filed a customs case against the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad.
Chairman Justice (R) Malik Manzoor Hussain and Member Technical Ziauddin Wazir heard the case. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge adjourned hearing on other cases filed by Expanded Programe on Immunization, M/s Fida Traders, M/s Kinat Inn International and others.
The same bench had also reserved the decision on cases filed by M/s Pakistan Royal Group, M/s Irfan Ullah and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad, M/s Pakistan Royal Group, M/s Irfan Ullah and others.
The appellants had filed cases challenging the announcements made by the DGI&I Islamabad. All three cases were filed in 2016.
M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had asked the tribunal to direct the department to release the imported items confiscated by the customs authorities under alleged attempts of smuggling.
M/s Irfan Ullah had prayed the tribunal to order the department to release his vehicle which the authorities had stated as cut and weld. The DGI&I officers had impounded the vehicle, and the adjudication sustained vehicle’s impounding.
The appellant had asked the tribunal to set aside the decision announced by the department and release the vehicle to bring justice to him.
The bench, after hearing arguments, had reserved the decisions on the said three cases.
Meanwhile, the bench also adjourned the hearing of a couple of other customs references.
