LONDON: Ports of Jersey has revealed how a “compelling” offer from long-standing incumbent Dufry-owned World Duty Free (WDF) led to the recent award of a new 10-year contract following a competitive duty-free tender process. The new agreement, which begins on March 1, will see WDF operate a 750sq m airside duty-free departures store, expanding its retail coverage by a further 260sq m. The space extension will allow for the introduction of new products, more local products and a redevelopment of the retail layout, as previously reported which is due to start at the end of the summer.
DFNIonline understands the speciality and convenience retail concession winners have been decided and that announcements are imminent. The food and beverage contract was awarded to Casual Dining Group. The various tenders and contact awards are part of the new masterplan process for the airport. The Port authority has already commissioned design agency Waddington Interiors to design a concept to stimulate ideas and discussions around development opportunities at the airport.
