LCCI advises CEO SME Bank to address reservations of traders

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has urged the president and chief executive officer of SME Bank to visit the Lahore Chamber to address the reservations of small & medium enterprises (SMEs).

While talking to a delegation of small & medium enterprises, the LCCI acting President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan lamented that despite repeated invitations, President and CEO of SME Bank Ihsanul Haq Khan is reluctant to visit the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry that represents the major part of small and medium enterprise.

He said that high-ups of SME Bank should be well aware of the importance of the business community of Lahore. He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry was the first chamber of Commerce & Industry of the country that had opposed the privatization of SME Bank but in reply President and CEO is giving cold shoulder and turning down the invitations of visit from the business community of Lahore.

“Such bureaucratic attitude is one of the biggest reasons of the ills of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) therefore government in general and Federal Finance Minister in particular should take notice of the situation.”

The LCCI Acting President said that leadership of SME Bank should adopt friendly approach towards the business community. He said that Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are playing a vital role in economic development of Pakistan and providing job opportunities to the millions. He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry is doing a lot for the SMEs and wants to give positive proposals to the SME Bank for the cause of economy.

He urged the President & Chief Executive Officer of SME Bank Ihsanul Haq Khan to visit the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry at the earliest so that a joint strategy could be evolved for SME sector of the country.
