ASO foils bid to smuggle Afghan Transit Trade Rs10 m items

LAHORE: Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization Saturday seized historical Rs10 million Afghan Transit Trade illegally imported gas cylanders, Panasonic irons, water motors, blades, Vatika hair oil, locks, almunium sheets and other miscellaneous items from a Road near Kala Shah Kaku.

Official sources told Customs Today that on the ASO team intercepted a truck fully loaded with the item including 180 Panasonic irons, 130 water motors, 150 gas cylinders, 190 cartons of Vatika hail oil, 7 sacks of herbal weeks, 25 carton of locks and different goods and articles.

The sources said that the ASO that the articles were belonging to the Transit Trade agreement at once impounded the truck number 306 PUC and took the goods and article in custody.

The sources said that the goods and articles were to be supplied in various market places including Shah Alam market, Hall Road and Temple Road in Lahore while the truck was coming from Peshawar.

The sources said that the truck was transporting the goods under the supervision of one Noor Khan.

The operation was conducted on the information of Collector of Customs Zulfiqar Younas under the supervision of Assistant collector Asim Awan led by Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian while inspectors including Shah Jehan, Khalid Butt and others inspectors were also part of the team.

Sources said that currently, a number of valuable cases have been registered against the smugglers and the elements involved has created a sever deterrence against smuggling under the limits of Customs Lahore Preventive.
