MOSCOW: Russian wheat exports in the 2016-17 marketing year from July 1 to February 8 were up 4.5% year on year at 17.939 million mt, Ministry of Agriculture data showed.
Wheat exports from Russia have been slower than expected in the 2016-17 marketing year as farmers have been slow to let go of their stocks on the domestic market due to low prices. According to the latest USDA WASDE report, this year’s projected exports are 28.5 million mt, 11.6% higher than last year’s.
Russian exporters have now also shipped 2.993 million mt of corn in the current marketing year, 30% higher year on year. Barley exports are at 1.996 million mt, down 42.3% from the same point last year.
