ASO Sargodha impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs2.4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha impounded foreign origin Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs2.4 million involving duty and taxes Rs1.2 million.

According to details, Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received credible information regarding transportation of smuggled goods. He formed a special ASO team in the supervision of Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, including Inspectors Anser Saleemi, Bashir Ahmed, Amir Ali, Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Hafiz Nasir Ahmed, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal and Shafqat Mehmood.

The ASO team, during checking intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf with registration No: N-9579 (Peshawar), model 1997, near Kot Momin Interchange Sargodha.

The ASO team asked the possessor Fakhar Zaman son of Nasrullah a resident of Hafizabad to produce documents regarding legal import and possession of the vehicle but he remained failed to show any required document.

After his failure, the ASO team impounded the vehicle and registered a case against the accused under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969.

The case has been forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
