Customs Court issues non-bailable warrants of non-duty paid vehicle owner

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bailable warrants for absconding suspect, Zahid Hussain Khokhar son of Mir Muhammad Khokhar, who was booked in non-custom duty paid Mercedes Benz jeep case.

During the hearing, Investigation Officer Qasim Ali Alvi submitted the final challan before the court and informed that the anti-smuggling department recovered Mercedes Benz jeep G650 (AMG) V 12 BI turbo bearing registration number BA-8193 Karachi model 2002 near Avari Tower Sadder. He said that a case was registered against the suspect who was owner of the vehicle.

He further informed that during the investigation, prosecution found sufficient evidences against the accused Zahid Hussain Khokhar who is involved evasion of the duty and taxes in the tune of Rs 15,576,948. The name of Intelligence Officer Shujat Hussain also mentioned as witness in the final challan.

After the arguments, the court accepted the final challan and issued non-bailable warrant of the accused and directed the investigation officer to arrest him and produce him before the court on the next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered in violation of section 2 (s) 16 of the customs act, 1969, punishable under clauses (8) (77) & (89) of sub section (1) read with sub section of section 156 ibid.
