ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal reserved decision on M/s Wahid Hamid and M/s Premier Formica Industries.
Chairman Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain heard the cases. M/s Wahid Hamid had filed case against Customs Peshawar for auctioning imported items despite the tribunal had announced a decision for release of them.
Similarly, another case filed by M/s Premier Formica Industries against department for seizing imported wood goods. Department’s adjudication had maintained the seizure and the appellant then approached the tribunal.
During hearing cases at tribunal, Chairman, Justice (r) Malik Manzoor Hussain held hearing of cases filed against Directorate General of Investigation and Intelligence, Islamabad and Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad and Peshawar. M/s Pakistan Royal Group, M/s Irfan Ullah and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had filed these cases. The appellants had filed cases challenging announcements made by the DGI&I, Islamabad. All three cases were filed in 2016.
M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had asked the tribunal to direct the department to release the imported items which were confiscated by the customs authorities under alleged attempts to smuggling.
M/s Irfan Ullah had prayed the tribunal to order the department to release his vehicle which the authorities had stated as cut and weld. DGI&I officers had confiscated the vehicle and adjudication sustained vehicle’s confiscation.
