Faisalabad ASO impounds Non-Duty Paid Toyota Surf

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin (F/O) Toyota Surf with registration No: LWQ-918 modelled 1976 worth Rs1.5million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs1.2millions.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya which also included Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Ali Zahid, Driver Muhammad Khalid Dogar and Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Shah Zaib and other sepoys. The ASO team intercepted the Toyota Surf on Jhang Road Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked driver named Muhammad Ahsan son of Muhammad Munir, a resident of Peoples Colony Faisalabad, to produce the legal documents of the vehicle but he failed. It was revealed through initial interrogations that the vehicle was brought into country without paying of customs duty and taxes.

The ASO team seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
