Chairman FBR holds press moot on important issues today

TRC body reviews proposals about electronic monitoring of tobacco industry

ISLAMABAD: A high powered meeting of Implementation Committee of Tax Reforms Commission held at Federal Board of Revenue conference room the other day.

Advisor to Prime Minister for Revenue Haroon Akhtar presided over the meeting while Chairman Federal Board of revenue Dr. Muhammad Irshad, Chairman Tax Reforms Commission Masood Ali Naqvi, Member Operations Rehmat Ullah Khan Wazir, Member Customs Zahid Khokhar, Member Taxpayer Audit Rana Seerat, Member Human Resource Managent Rozi Khan Burki, Member Administration Muhammad Majid Qureshi, Member IT Ms. Nausheen Javed, Member Inland Revenue Policy Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Member SPR&S Nasir Masroor Ahmad, Member Legal , Member FATE and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Dr. Muhammad Irshad presented the latest published booklets regarding the FBR laws to the committee members. The Committee considered that through the promotion and use of information technology, FBR can reduce the volume of undocumented and black economy.

The Committee also considered the matters relating to performance evaluation and appellate forums. The Committee reviewed different proposals relating to electronic monitoring of production of tobacco industry, mapping of real estate sector, making taxpayers audit more effective and simplification of tax laws. The Committee deliberated on progress of the previous decisions and decided to speed up the implementation process.

A three member sub-committee comprising Member Customs Zahid Khokhar, Member Inland Revenue Policy Dr.  Muhammad Iqbal and Member SPR & S Nasir Masroor Ahmad sought more time for preparations of recommendations for the simplification of tax laws.
