SCOTLAND: The fans of Smartphone are waiting anxiously for the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update for their devices as French network SFR has exposed the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, and LG G3.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is the latest and greatest mobile OS from Google and it’s currently available out of the box or as a software update on smartphones and tablets, like the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, HTC One M8 Google Play Edition, HTC One M7 Google Play Edition, Motorola’s Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E.
Motorola was able to deliver an Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA software update to the Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E almost immediately after Google officially released the OS because unlike Samsung, HTC, and LG who all use a separate skin to make Android more user friendly, Motorola decided to listen to Google and use a near stock version of Android on its smartphones and tablet. The move significantly shortens the time a manufacturer can get a major Android update out, since it does not have to spend the same amount of time testing to make sure skins like Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC’s Sense work without issues.
We recently reported that HTC ‘s Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 is expected to be released in the near future and leaked images show how HTC will incorporate Lollipop and its Sense UI. We also got a look at Samsung’s Android 5.0 Lollipop progress for its flagship Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, and LG G3 owners now have a better idea of when to expect an official Android 5.0 Lollipop software update, now that French carrier SFR has posted its Android update schedule. As you can see in the image above, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to receive an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in December and the Galaxy Note 4, which was also expected to receive the update in December, is now listed as rolling out in January. The LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop software update is expected to roll out in the coming days, with the schedule marking it as “coming soon.”
Once we hear some specific dates for Android 5.0 Lollipop software updates for U.S. carriers, we’ll be sure to pass them on.
