Customs Central Region registers 1pc growth in duty collection during eight months of FY2016-17

LAHORE: Customs Central Region has collected Rs27612 million customs duty (CD) during the eight month of current financial year 2016-17 (July-February) by registering 1 percent growth against proposed collection target of Rs27414 during the period.

As per details the Customs Appraisement Lahore collected Rs15680 million during the first eight months against assigned target Rs15661 million during the period under review.

Similarly, Customs Preventive collected Rs5340million customs duty during the eight month against the proposed target Rs5797 million during the period.

The Collectorate of Multan collected Rs4812 million during the period under review against the assigned target Rs 4956 million for the period.

In the same way, the Collectorate of Customs Faisalabad collected Rs 1779 million during the eight month of financial against the target Rs 1000 million during the period.

Overall the Central Region collected total customs duty from all the four collectrates worth Rs27612 million customs duty against the 27414 million during the period.

Sources said that Chief Collector of Customs has instructed all the collectors of the four collectors to work hard to achieve the targets given by the board and also motivate the subordinates to use all available resources to gather as much revenue as they can do to achieve the targets.

It is further informed that the new Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Zeba Hai Azhar has planned to hold periodical meetings with the officials of the four collectorates.
