Hyderabad ASO confiscates Iranian oil, diesel worth Rs494000

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad has seized 9880 liters of Iranian oil and HSD diesel valued Rs494000 involving duty and taxes of Rs380380 during a raid on Miani Forest National Highway Hyderabad. The value of the tanker is Rs500000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed Khan received a tip-off about the smuggled Iranian HSD. He constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Omer Shafique to foil the smuggling attempt. Other team’s members comprised Inspectors Asadudin Mirza, Muhammad Iqbal, Shakeel Khan, Mushtak Ali Lakho, Sepoys Essa Khan Chandio, Ghulam Sarwar, Hawaldar Muhammad Ahmed, Drivers Jawaid Maskor and Sadiq Khaskheli.

The raiding team intercepted an oil tanker with registration No. E-9119 and seized the smuggled Iranian oil and HSD diesel. The diesel oil was being smuggled from Karachi into interior Sindh.

Prior to the confiscation, the raiding team asked the driver to produce legal documents regarding the import of Iranian oil but he failed to produce the same.
