KARACHI: The bilateral trade volume between Switzerland and Pakistan has increased by 15 percent during the year 2016.
A statement said that according to Swiss Customs Administration latest statistics, the bilateral trade volume between Switzerland and Pakistan during 2016 was to the tune of a total of Swiss Franc (CHF) 481.42 million.
The main contributors to this growth were Swiss chemicals and pharmaceuticals exports that rose by 28% and 20% respectively.
Pakistani textile exports to Switzerland were also all time high (CHF 84.47 million); 20% more than 2015.
At present, 21 Swiss companies are successfully operating in Pakistan and provide direct employment to over 20,000 Pakistanis.
Over the past decade, these firms have collectively invested more than CHF 1.5 billion.
Switzerland is thus placed among the top five direct foreign investors in Pakistan, it was further pointed out.
