Sargodha ASO seizes auto parts, plastic scrap during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha has confiscated foreign origin smuggled auto parts, and computer plastic scrap worth Rs6,33,600 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs1,32,984.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received credible information that a non duty paid consignment would be smuggled from Peshawar to Faisalabad via Sargodha under the cover of fake import documents.

After receiving information, Deputy Collector Rizwan constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Maher Ameer Ali, Ansar Saleemi, Bashir Ahmad, Sepoy Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Imran, Mehmood Muhammad Feroz and Muhammad Mansha.

The ASO staff intercepted a Mazda truck near By pass Faisalabad Road Sargodha and recovered auto parts radiators and foreign origin computer plastic scrap. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle, Shaz Ali son of Shabaz Khan to produce legal documents regarding the legal import of the items. But he could not show any documents regarding the legal import of the goods.

Therefore the officials confiscated auto parts, and plastic scrap under section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for Violation of Section 2 (s), 16, and 18, of the Customs Act.
