GILGIT: Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman has said that his government would cooperate with all banks on basis of its excellent performance and better people’s friendly policies without any bias and discrimination.
Talking to representatives of banks serving in Gilgit Baltistan here, the Chief Minister urged them to introduce people’s friendly policies as his government was ready to facilitate them without any discrimination.
He directed the Secretary Finance to address problems of banks with consultation of their representatives and devise a clear and comprehensive deposits policy.
In Gilgit Baltistan, extension of State Bank has been included in the agenda of GB Council. The Chief Minister said all those banks having no regional offices, would be made bound to setup their regional offices in accordance with laws, rules and regulations of the State Bank.
Documentation was imperative for elimination of corruption so that society can be cleansed from this menace, he maintained.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, he said, was taking keen interest in development of Gilgit Baltistan and his government was extending full cooperation to GB administration, the CM said.
He said there was no dearth of resources in GB and his government wanted to make it self sufficient in all sectors.
The Chief Minister said every segment of the society have to play positive and constructive role in making GB a developed province and urged banks working for promotion of sports activities in GB to ensure their cooperation for promotion of sports activities.
He said his government was giving top focus on promotion of technical and vocational education keeping in view of its paramount importance for generation of jobs besides increasing overall production of industrial units.
Hafeezur Rehman said his government has introduced the “Chief Minister Interest Free Loans” scheme to facilitate people interested in short and medium term investment and encourage entrepreneurs in Gilgit Baltistan.
