Hyderabad FIU impounds 26 rolls of sofa cloths valued Rs600000

HYDERABAD: The Customs Investigation and Intelligence, Field Investigation Unit (FIU), Hyderabad, has confiscated 26 smuggled rolls of cushion sofa cloths worth Rs600000 involving duty and taxes of Rs113790 during an action in the city.

Sources told Customs Today that intelligence officials received a tip-off through Director Karachi regarding the possible smuggling of cushion sofa cloths.

Following the information, the officials conducted a raid on a vehicle of Fazal-e-Rabi Goods Transport Company near Hala Naka Hyderabad and recovered non-duty paid 26 rolls of cushion sofa cloths.

The customs intelligence officials asked the driver to produce documents of the imported goods but he failed to do so.

The customs FIU team seized the goods item and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.

After registering a case, the team deposited the confiscated rolls of cushion sofa cloths into Hyderabad state warehouse.

The team, comprising Deputy Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) Irfan Ghani, Intelligence Officers and Sepoys Noshad Khan, Azam Ali, Ghiasuddin and Musrat Shah, Imran Ali, Rao Abdul Sattar and Driver Haneef Somroo, Janib Kurb and others, participated in the action.
