Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issues ONO in favour of ASO

FAISALABAD: The Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Asma Hameed has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of Anti-Smuggling Organization Faisalabad.

According to details, a team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a vehicle loaded with foreign origin velvet cloth in different color and brands. The smuggled vehicle and goods was brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes through unauthorized way.

The customs team arrested the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Shoukat Ali son of Bashir Ahmed.

The customs official asked the driver to produce documents regarding import of vehicle and goods. But he failed to produce any lawful proof. The particular of the vehicle were checked on the website and found not tallied. The incharge of PRAL Customs Dry Port has informed that the vehicle having (cut & weld) was not imported in the country. Seizure report along with enclosures is being submitted to adjudication authority for adjudication.

So it is evidence that as the result of forensic science laboratory, testing report of the vehicle i.e vehicle chassis number frame is found cut and welded means original chassis number has been cut away and a bogus chassis number has been welded in the chassis frame has been found cut and welded.

During the proceedings, Inspector Asghar Mehdi Naqvi appeared from the petitioner side and no one was appeared from the respondent side. The case decided on the basis of the facts and material available. After hearing the case Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued ONO in favor of ASO Anti Smuggling Organization under section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act 1969.
