JHANG: As many as 197,000 metric tons of wheat will be procured this year from Jhang district by the Food department. A transparent mechanism will be evolved for purchase of wheat.
This was told in the meeting held here Tuesday to review incoming drive of wheat procurement. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Riaz and was attended besides others by ADCG, all 4 Assistant Commissioners of the district and District Food Controller.The meeting was told that 17 Procurement Centers had been established where all possible facilities would be provided to wheat growers.
The DC addressing the meeting stated that policy adopted by the Punjab government for wheat procurement would be ensured at all costs and complaints by growers would be taken positively.He said gunny bags would be distributed to farmers by the administration. Security arrangements would be made foolproof at all procurement centers, he added.
