PPD adopting delaying tactics in issuance of “clearance certificate” for pulses

KARACHI: The masses are likely to face acute shortage of pulses before Ramadan, as the Plant Protection Department (PPD) is adopting delaying tactics for issuance of clearance certificate for the importers of pulses in order to import pulses to the country, it is learnt here.

According to details, the pulses are being imported from Canada and Australia and delaying in issuance of Plant Protection Department (PPD) certificate is creating the possibility of banning the import of pulses from foreign countries.

In this regard, the importers of pulses have also raised their concerns before the President Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Shamim Ahmed Firpo.

The President KCCI Shamim Firpo has assured the importers that he will raise the issue before the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The importers were also hinted that they will stage a protest demonstration in their demands could not be made on time.

The president KCCI was advised the importers that first they should adopt the way of deliberations in order to fulfill their demands.

The importers were agreed upon the suggestion being presented by the President KCCI Shamim Ahmed Firpo.

It is pertinent to mention here that the current situation may also increase the price of pulses in the market, which is definitely an extra burden on the pockets of common men.
