ISLAMABAD: The main issue facing the exporters of fresh fruits to sell their products in the international market is lack of proper packaging and sameness (Equal sizes) among pieces of fruits. The exporters must follow the latest techniques to meet the international standards. The Customs Export Section of Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad entertained business valued Rs19425million during the first three quarters from July to March 2016-17. The Customs Exports Section processed exports business valued of Rs2000million during March 2016-17. Some exporters did over-invoicing on exported goods so as to claim rebates.
These words were said by Dr. Tahir Iqbal Khattak, Deputy Collector Export AFU Islamabad, DC WeBoc registration and Deputy Collector Tribunal while giving an exclusive interview to Customs Today.
He said Pakistani exports have large potential and the exports have shown upward trend during the first three quarters of Financial Year 2016-17 as compared to corresponding FY2015-16.
Tahir Khattak told Customs Today that Pakistani Halal meat is popular in Middle East and Pak leather goods and surgical items are also popular in the international market. He maintained that the government always provides best facilities to exporters for promotion of Pakistani products. He predicted that the AFU export section will not only meet its set targets for FY2016-17 but also exceed the given ones. He added that the performance of Export Section is above expectation of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad.
He stated that during 09 months (July to March) of current Financial Year2016-17, the Exports Section entertained about 19,002 Goods Declaration (GDs). The main goods exported to different European and Middle East countries comprise textile fabrics, fresh fruits and vegetables, leather goods, surgical instruments and sports goods. He said the GD Registration Section recorded 08 to 10 GDs on daily basis.
During the first nine months of FY2016-17, the exports of textile garments were on the rise as compared to other items. Out of total consignments above 50% earning consist of textile fabrics and garments, Dr. Tahir said.
The Customs Export Section of the AFU entertained Rs14963.85million of export business during seven months from July to January FY16-17.
The AFU Exports Section processed 16,618 Goods Declarations during seven months from July to January. The Customs Export Section of the AFU received more exports business of Rs3.77million than the assigned target for January 2017.
During January FY2016-17, the Export Section of the AFU generated collection of Rs1775.81million against the set target of Rs1708.78million. During above said period, the Export Section earned business by exporting chilled meat, surgical instruments and leather goods.
