About 885 metric tons of wheat exported in last 8 months

ISLAMABAD: About 885 metric tons of wheat worth $258,000, exported during first 8 months of current financial year as compared the exports of the corresponding period of last year.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics wheat exports from the country during period from July-February, 2016-17 grew by 1,190 percent as compared the exports of same period last year.

Wheat exports from the country in first eight months of last financial year was recorded at 50 thoand metric tons valuing $20,000.

On month on month basis, wheat exports from the country also registered 100 percent increase in month of February as about 200 metric tons of the commodity worth $ 57,000 exported as against the exports of same period of last year.

It may be recalled that food group exports from the country during first eight months of current financial year decreased by 11.79 percent, where as imports into the country increased by 13.47 percent as compared the corresponding period of last year.

The food group imports into  the country during the period from July-February, 2016-17 was recorded at $ 3.970 billion as compared the imports of $3.498 billion of same period of last year.

Meanwhile, during the period under review, food group exports from the country was recorded at $2.339 billion as compared the exports of $2.652 billion of same period of last year.
