Collector Preventive Junejo assures importers of resolving their problems on priority basis

KARACHI: The Collector Customs CollectoratePreventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in order to listen the issues of business community regarding the Customs’ clearance.

During his visit, the President FPCCI Muhammad Zubair Tufail was informed the Collector Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo about the issues being faced by the businessmen.

The President FPCCI Zubair Tufail was apprised that the business community is being faced several issues regarding Customs clearance including implementation of port congestion charges, smuggling of non-duty paid items and delay in clearance of imported consignments at Air Freight Unit (AFU).

The President FPCCI Zubair Tufail was informed the Collector Preventive that the importers are paying extra charges on their imported consignments due to delay in clearance of consignments at AFU, adding that they are suffering huge monetary loss in this regard, as the customs authorities are also examining the consignments which are being came through “Green Channel”.

The President FPCCI Muhammad Zubair Tufail further put forward an issue regarding the smuggling of imported items through unfair means.

He said that the importers are not able to get their due financial benefit owing to the smuggling of running items and so that the import is being decreased adding that the local manufacturing of the products is also being suffered.

The Collector Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo has listen all the issues being faced by the importers’ community and assured them that their issues would be resolved on war-footing basis.

Dr Saifuddin Junejo was also stated that the Pakistan Customs is determined to facilitate the legal trade and steps are already being taken to root out the menace of smuggling.

The businessmen was applauded the efforts being made by the Customs Department and expressed its gratitude towards the Collector Customs for pledging to resolve the issues of them.
