Traders give thumb down to PTI’s Lahore shutdown call on Dec 15

LAHORE: Reacting to the PTI shutdown call for December 15, majority of trade associations of the provincial metropolis described sit-ins and protests as illogical and advised the PTI leadership to exercise constitutional options for get its grievances addressed.

It is to be noted that the PTI has given shutdown call in Lahore on December 15.

However, local traders’ unions sharply reacted to the call and suggested the PTI leadership to opt for constitutional remedies instead of protests on roads.

According to Hall Road Traders Association President Babar Mehmood, Urdu Bazaar Traders Association President Khalid Pervaiz, Ferozpur Road Industrial Association Patron-in-Chief Adnan Butt, Marble Market Chairman Mehboob Ahmed Sirki and Mall Road Traders Association Chairman Raja Hamid Riaz, sit-ins in Islamabad have met their logical end and there is no need for protests.

They pointed out that “intimating traders to shut businesses” would serve no purpose and would only cause losses to economy. They regretted that protests and strike only disseminated bad impact to foreign investors.

The traders leaders maintained that the PML-N government had undertaken many development projects, especially in the energy sector which rekindled hope for elimination of power outages from the country.

They urged PTI Chairman Imran Khan to withdraw his shutdown call and let the present system continue.
