BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.51%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3), which rose 2.10% or 1.24 points to trade at 60.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) added 1.87% or 0.52 points to end at 28.36 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 1.82% or 0.28 points to 15.68 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11), which fell 5.09% or 1.40 points to trade at 26.13 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.84% or 0.45 points to end at 8.84 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 4.64% or 0.20 points to 4.11. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 229 to 122 and 42 ended unchanged. Shares in Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.87% or 0.52 to 28.36.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.13% to 30.62. Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06% or 0.75 to $1257.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $50.86 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.51% or 0.70 to trade at $137.07 . USD/BRL was up 0.85% to 3.1197, while EUR/BRL rose 0.90% to 3.3305. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 100.39.
