FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) welcomed allocation of 30 percent gas for supply to Punjab textile sector in winter, saying that eight hours a day gas supply to textile mills will help industrialists double exports to $26 billion.

According to PTEA Chairman Sohail Pasha and Rizwan Riaz, the decision to supply uninterrupted gas to export oriented textile industry would boost the business community’s confidence in the government policies. They also lauded the Punjab chief minister for taking up the case of the textile industry with the federal government.

The PTEA leaders said uninterrupted gas supply would help increase textile exports every month and huge inflow of foreign exchange would further strengthen economy and reduce trade gap.

They hoped that it would also help the exporters exploit the GSP Plus status granted by the EU.
