Collector Arsalan directs to speed up efforts to collect more revenue

ISLAMABAD:  Collector Customs Collectorate Dr. Arslan Subuctageen has asked Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) department to use the Article 1694 (this article use to make seizure after seized the smuggled goods) under Customs Act 1969 so the  can auction the seized goods speedily. Collector hold meeting with officers of Preventived department and asked them to gear up their efforts to collect more and more revenue, he also asked ASO and car cell staffers to made maximum seizures of Non Duty Paid vehicles and smuggled goods so the assigned revenue collection target of financial year (July to June) 2016-17 can be achieved.

Dr. Arslan Subuctageen told Customs Today that he told the ASO staff that he has met with chairman Federal Board of Revenue, the chairman  appreciated the performance of Customs department and promise that he will give the reward to officers who showed good performance during first three quarters of financial year 2016-17 adding that the names of preventive officers against their outstanding performances has been sent to Member Customs and Member IRM for rewards.

The Collector said that ASO staffers told him during meeting that the smugglers use the Motorway to escape and the customs have no power to stop the smugglers under Motorway jurisdiction, collector said that he told ASO staff that very soon he will meet with the IG Motorway regarding to enhance coordination between Customs and Motor way police to stop the smuggling activities through Motorway.

Collector said that during last 9 months the performance of ASO was good adding that the ASO seized 118 NDP and offending vehicles  worth of Rs287.925 million whereas the ASO made many seizers of foreign origin fabrics, NDP vehicles, smuggled cigarettes, black tea, tyres and tubes and alloy rims, auto parts, cell phones and electronic items etc.

The ASO officials comprises Assistant Collector ASO, Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents of ASO and I&P department and Inspectors of ASO was attended the meeting, they assured the Collector that they will gear up the efforts to make more seizers against smugglers of NDP vehicles during upcoming last quarter (April to June 2016-17).
