WASHINGTON: Dachser’s consolidated gross revenues for fiscal year 2016 totaled 5.71 billion euros (U.S. $6.07 billion), a 1.7 percent year-over-year increase, the company said. The Kempten, Germany-based global logistics provider handled 80 million shipments weighing 38.2 million metric tons, both rising 2.4 percent year-over-year, driven by European overland transport as well as food logistics.

Dachser’s Road Logistics business, which accounts for 75 percent of the company’s revenues, recorded revenues of 4.31 billion euros, a 3.7 percent year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, Dachser’s Air & Sea Logistics business recorded revenues of 1.54 billion euros, falling 3 percent year-over-year due to low international freight rates, especially in sea freight, and negative currency effects. Looking ahead, Dachser has increased the volumes of its planned investments from 125 million euros for 2016 to 177 million euros for 2017, which will be used to expand network locations, IT systems, and research and development.
