Customs North Region suffers Rs117.92m ST loss in nine months

ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region collected Rs9641.88million during nine months (July to March 2016-17) under the head of Sales Tax (ST) whereas the North Region was assigned Rs9759.80million under the same head.

So the North Region showed somewhat a slight decline with the loss of Rs117.92million under the head of ST. To meet the assigned target, the Customs North comprised Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Peshawar, MCC Islamabad, MCC Gilgit-Baltistan and MCC Sambrial.

The document provided to Customs Today showed that Gilgit-Baltistan generated the highest amount of Rs826.89million ST against the assigned target of Rs495.80million during the first three quarters of FY2016-17. In this way, the MCC GB received more revenue with the amount of Rs331.09million against the assigned target of ST. During the first nine months of current financial year, the MCC Islamabad exceeded assigned target under the head of ST with more amount of Rs196.55million.

The collectorate of Islamabad was assigned Rs3462.00million under head of ST for nine months whereas it collected Rs3658.55million under the same head.

The North Collectorate of Samberial was assigned Rs185.00million ST for nine months whereas it collected Rs238.72million under the same head during said period. The said collectorate exceeded assigned revenue target with more amount of Rs53.72million ST.

The collectorate of Peshawar was assigned the target of Rs5617.00million under the head of ST during nine months (July to March) of FY16-17 and it collected Rs4917.72million under the same head.
