Peshawar customs impounds 554 vehicles during nine months

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Peshawar seized 554 vehicles during nine months of current Financial Year (FY2016-17).

During three quarters (July to March), the performance of the MCC-Anti Smuggling Organization has been satisfactory during above said period. The ASO Peshawar impounded 345 offending vehicles worth Rs482.00millions during above said period whereas the ASO Peshawar seized 209 Non-Customs Duty Paid vehicles worth Rs305.35million during 09 months of Financial Year 2016-17.

During above said period, the ASO arrested 35 offenders involved in smuggling activities whereas the MCC Peshawar convicted 38 persons in different cases.

The ASO MCC Peshawar seized 22 offending (vehicles used to carry smuggled goods) vehicles worth R23.3million during the month of March FY2016-17 whereas the ASO’s car cell seized 21 Non-Customs Duty Paid (NDP) vehicles worth Rs27.1million during said period.
