Custom court grants interim bail to female accused booked in mis-declaration

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi granted interim pre-arrest bail to accused lady namely Rizwana w/o Hanif booked in a case of mis-declaration.

During the hearing, abovementioned accused lady appeared before the court along with her counsel and moved an application for pre-arrest bail. Her counsel argued that his client is innocent and was falsely implicated in this case. She is ready to face trail, however she has apprehension of arrest therefore court may grant her bail till final disposal of the case.

After his hearing, court granted her bail and observed in its order that “Without touching the merits of the case, ad-interim pre-arrest bail is granted to said accused subject to furnish surety in the sum of Rs200000 each with P.R bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of this court.

The court also directed lady accused to join investigation if and when required by the investigation officer and appear before the court on next date of hearing. The court also called the police and issued notice to special prosecutor for customs department.

According to the prosecution, case was registration in violation of Section 16, 32 (1) (32) (21A), 79 of the Customs Act-1969 punishable under clauses 9, 14, 14A, and 46 of Section 156 (1) of the Customs Act-1969 read with Import & Export (Control) Act-1950.
