HONG KONG: A traveler arriving from Bangladesh convicted at West Kowloon Magistrates Courts today of illegally importing endangered animals.
Customs officers found 98 three-keeled land tortoises, 27 Indian pond turtles, two Bengal roof turtles and one Pangshura turtle were inside the luggage of the 26-year-old man who arrived from the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.
He was charged with the illegal import of endangered species. He man was sentenced to three months imprisonment.
