NAB arrests public cheater in Rs184.33m scam

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau, Rawalpindi has arrested an absconder Abbas Haider Naqvi, Chief Executive M/s Big Board Advisory Service (Pvt.) Ltd from Karachi.

As per the detail Abbas Haider Naqvi, in connivance with other accused persons had committed offences of corruption and corrupt practices by way of cheating public at large and criminal breach of trust.

The said Company with its Head Office at Karachi opened branch offices in different towns of Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan).  During investigation it was revealed that Directors of the said Company malafidely collected money from general public by promising a rate of return ranging between 18 to 36 per cent per annum and 100 to 150 per cent for an investment of five years. The accused persons defaulted, thus, causing loss to public at large.

During investigations, NAB received 1019 complaints involving total liability of Rs. 184.33 million from all districts of Northern Areas.

Four Directors namely Syed Sarosh Haider Rizvi, Muhammad Arif Khan, Muhammad Sadiq Khan and Ahmed Rehman were arrested from Karachi and after they were convicted by the court.

The accused Abbas Haider Naqvi will be produced before the Accountability Court Karachi for getting transitory remand for shifting of accused from Karachi to NAB Rawalpindi sub-office Gilgit.
