Customs Exports issues notices to companies for alleged tax evasion

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has issued show-cause notices to two factories in order to collect the evaded tax amounts. The Customs authorities issued notices to M/s Sadaf Garments and Knit Wear Karachi and Ibrahim Plastic and Export at Thatha.

M/s Sadaf Garments and Knit Wear used wrong PCT headings to get its silk fabric consignment cleared in March and caused a loss of Rs 0.12 million to the national exchequer.

While checking the data of March, the Customs Exports found that the company used wrong PCT heading. After finding the tax evasion, the Customs authorities issued show-cause notice No: 156/2017 to recover the evaded tax amount.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion by M/s Ibrahim Plastic and Exports in a consignment of plastic items in March. The Customs authorities after careful investigation issued a show-cause notice to the company and asked them to submit the evaded tax amount within fortnight.
