Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled HDPE pipes

MIANWALI: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized foreign origin non duty paid HDPE pipe 2240 kilograms with carrier vehicles. The appraised value of the smuggled items is Rs31,40,000 involving duty and tax worth Rs7,43,520.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received a tip off that some items are being brought into the country without paying custom duty and taxes.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspectors Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Umar Bhatti and Saifullah, Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad Amin Bhatti, Ghulam Sarwar Shah started checking the vehicles near Dagil district Bhakkar.

The ASO team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: LES-12-6203. The vehicle was loaded with HDPE pipes made in UK Hole size 1/2 inch outer black and inner white colour.

During the course of checking the driver Fazal Gul son of Doran Khan has informed that loaded pipe from truck Afridi Goods Transport Compnay Peshawar against truck bilty no: 2717 for Multan.

The ASO team seized the items under Section 168 of the Customs Act-1969 for violation of Section 2(s), 16, 18 of the Customs Act-1969. The ASO team arrested the accused and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication.
