Customs auction cell fetches Rs54.635m income by impounding vehicles & goods

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Auction Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad earned Rs54.635million by selling confiscated smuggled goods and impounded Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles through public auction held on 24th of April of Financial Year 2016-17 here at State Ware House G-11 Islamabad.

According to Customs Auction Cell Islamabad, the cell held the largest auction of the Financial Year 2016-17. People from all walks of life and the cities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar participated in the auction. The auction was organized by the Alvi Auctioneers and Customs staff according to the customs rules.

The auction has fetched some handsome revenue to national exchequer. The auctioneers had deposited 25% out of the total worth of the lots they purchased through auction. The auction cell collected Rs21.728million through sale of various kinds of smuggled goods including scrape, LED TVs, foreign origin fabric and auto parts.

The auction cell earned Rs32.907million through auction of lots of confiscated NDP vehicles like Land Cruiser, Land Rover, Double Cabin and other models and brands. It was the 6th auction held under the supervision of Islamabad collectorate but the auction held on 24th of April was the largest one with the earning of total revenue of Rs54.635million amongst all the auctions held during the current Financial Year 2016-17.
